Gastronomy

It is well known that the Levac table is abundant and rich, and the gifts of nature in this region are countless.

At the Brana Eco Village, the traditional way of preparing food is carefully preserved. Meals are cooked on a “smederevac” stove or grilled in massive clay pots, using locally sourced ingredients.

It takes great skill to prepare food the way it was once made, but the flavors from our kitchen are truly unique. In traditional clay pots, specialties of pork and lamb are prepared, as well as cooked dishes such as beans, cabbage, and various stews. The aroma of distinctive dishes made with forest mushrooms and refined game specialties spreads from our kitchen. A part of this region’s flavors also includes the famous little cabbage rolls wrapped in fir leaves.

From the oven of the smederevac comes the aroma of bread and cornbread, while flatbreads with soda are turned on the stovetop. Alongside all these dishes, we recommend the LEVAČ BREAKFAST, consisting of homemade cream (kajmak), cheese, and yogurt, rolls, and traditional cured meat, accompanied by a glass of our rakija.

The gems of our kitchen are various pies, crispy on the outside and soft as a soul on the inside. These include zeljanica made with meadow greens and nettle, or those filled with homemade cheese. This region is fertile ground for growing vines and fruit. In the orchards, apples, plums, pears, and more are cultivated — so one must try the Levac fruit table, as well as the fruit brandies and homemade wines.

The village was named after pear orchards, so at Brana, the pear cake as a sweet finale is not to be missed.
